"It is 8:30" - Carrot Ranch Weekly Challenge - 12/14/17

Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction - Due Tuesday, 12/19/17

Prompt - Phrase "Only in" - 99 words exactly

"It is 8:30”

The man cracked opened his eyes to same bleak existence he had suffered for as long as he could remember.  For some moments he stared at the ceiling, his red eyes not focusing on anything in particular.  He struggled to bring his mind into focus for what he faced this day so much like every other day he had ever faced.  He rubbed his eyes with his knuckles and considered that only in his dreams did he seem to have any control.

“Sir?  It is 8:30.  Madam would like to know if you will be joining her for breakfast.”

This my first flash effort in quite awhile.  It meets the minimum/maximum word count.  Whether it is a worthy effort, I just cannot say.  But I had to start somewhere.  Hope you like it.

Good one. You have to feel sorry for Prince Phillip - indeed for all the Royals. It is not a job I'd like to do. You have written it well. Welcome back.

I wonder if he gets to say "no" to that question. I doubt it! Great response to the prompt.

irenewaters19 - Thank you. Seems no matter what else happens in my life, Flash Fiction is now one of those addictions I can only suppress for awhile. With my life on cruise again, I hope to dedicate more time for it.

Charli Mills - As Bob Dylan put, "We all have to serve somebody". Living outside the Human Experience is not in us. We are a social animal, like it or not.

I would only add that your prompt was not a favorite until I thought about it. In corporating it as unnoticed as possible was the challenge for me. I did not want to have to force it. That was my goal anyway.

And thanks to you both for taking time to comment on BoZone Too I set up as dedicated to my fiction, such as it has become.
